Old Fort’s Kelly Miller signs with Walsh University.

Old Fort’s Kelly Miller signed a letter-of-intent to play volleyball at NCAA Division II Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.

Kelly Miller, a senior at Old Fort High School, signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her volleyball career at Walsh University in North Canton, OH, on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.  A 6’2” middle hitter, Miller was recruited by Cavaliers coach Erin Foster.  “She was so awesome,” Miller said of Coach Foster.  “The team is real close, like a family, and that’s what I wanted.  I really like the school and it’s a great fit for me both academically and athletically.”

Walsh is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and finished 2012 with a 11-15 record overall and 8-10 in the league.

Kelly’s senior season with the Stockaders was cut short when she suffered a broken foot during a pre-season practice.  During her junior year, she was named MAL Honorable Mention and led the Stockaders with 259 kills.  Involved in club volleyball since the fifth grade, she plays on the 17 National team for Oiler Attack in Findlay.

In addition to being a stand-out volleyball player, Kelly excels in the classroom with a 4.0 grade point average and a post-secondary student at Terra Community College. She is also involved in many activities including National Honor Society, student council, softball and school plays and musicals.  Kelly has also been named Student of the Quarter and recognized with the Fremont Memorial Hospital Leadership Award.
